Cadet platoon of Sumana Balika Vidyalaya was established in the year 1993 and it is the first girls' cadet platoon which was established in Ratnapura district. Nelu Kodithuwakku was the first Sargent of the first cadet platoon. The junior defense cadet platoon was established in the year 2017 while the Police girls' cadet platoon was established in 2018. SBV cadets have able to achieve many victories within its long history.
